Created by dangerousface to help propagate Self Portrait Saturday among the other camera-whore masses.

Every Saturday, regardless of where I'm at, I take a self portrait on my nifty digital camera. Over time, they've become a record of where I've been, how I've been, and how I've changed over the days/weeks/months. They're easily my memories..

The rules:

Portraits don't need to be taken on a Saturday, but they certainly can be.

Portraits don't need to be in any particular media--I take pictures, but if you draw/paint/sculpt/whatever, that's cool, too.

Please save our friends lists and place large images behind lj cuts.

Ditto for adult images--please place them behind cuts and notate in your subject that the image may not be worksafe [NWS/NSFW].

If you want to post context, please do.

Faces of Asheville Photo Blog [Mar. 21st, 2006|01:23 am]

The following is just a sample from a protest held today.

UNC-A Iraq War Protest
Photos & Poem (c)2006 JGB

Held in downtown Asheville, NC this afternoon.  It was the first day of spring with freezing sleet.  I have got to admit - these guys had spirit.  My hands were blue within minutes of getting there and they had been out there over an hour.  That is some committed patriotism.

There are protests everywhere
Children marching in the street
But what good are they doing
Just a moment to release
Frustration, anger, anxiety,
A chance to feel the beat
Take your voices outside
Take them to the street

Hold up that pretty sign
You made the night before
March on downtown they will care
Boutiques will open up their doors
They will listen and they will note
The message that is in store
But tomorrow will your sign
Just be lying on the floor

We can change things if we try
We've been told this since our birth
Does a protest or a march
Give our voices mirth
We have to try we have no choice
Our message holds its worth
Until we are a majority
We will march upon this earth

my vintage photo journal [Dec. 27th, 2005|07:35 pm]
Announce your photography journal here!

My photo journal is almost entirely vintage stuff from my family's albums, going back to the 19th century: slides, snapshots, polaroids, photo postcards, etc. The only modern (post 1990) pix that I do post are of places or objects, no people -- no snapshots of what I did last weekend, no info about my life today. I try to vary the images so that one day it's the 70s and another day it's the 20s and so on.

I post now and then in oldphotoaffair, but if there's anyone here who's doing anything similiar, either digging around in their own attics, or collecting older found photographs, I'd love to add you.
